Holds on by itself

Most shades hang from the lampholder, on a ring, a clamp or a screw. Shell doesn’t touch it. Springs printed into the shade grip the bulb itself, so Shell pushes on, stays put, and pulls off by hand.

One printed part. No screws, no glue, no frame.1

Light down, glow around

Shell is open at the bottom, so the bulb’s light falls straight down onto whatever is underneath: a table, a shelf, a collection of fossils. The rest escapes through the ribs as a warm, banded glow.

The top is open too, so warm air can get out.

A standard bulb, on purpose

Shell is made for the A60, the most ordinary bulb shape there is. It comes with a 5 W, 2700 K, 809 lm LED bulb.

When that bulb eventually dies, replace it with another A60 LED bulb of up to 5 W2 and keep the shade.

(2) LED only. Bulb dimensions vary slightly between brands. If in doubt, ask us which bulbs we’ve tested.

Ready to hang

Shell arrives assembled: shade, bulb, white porcelain E27 socket and 3,5 m of white PVC cable. Connect it to a ceiling outlet and switch it on.3

Every Shell comes with a three-year guarantee.4

(4) Three years of free repairs covering all defects, including the bulb, not covering mishandling or accidents.

Made from old bottles

Shell’s shade is made from post-consumer recycled plastic – old bottles and packaging – turned into filament in Sweden and printed in our Copenhagen workshop.

When you no longer need it, send it back to us and we’ll take care of the material.5
