Why Shell

Made from old bottles

The shade is made from post-consumer recycled plastic – old bottles and packaging – turned into filament in Sweden and printed in our Copenhagen workshop. When you’re done with it, send it back and we’ll take care of the material.

Clips onto the bulb

Springs printed into the shade grip a standard A60 bulb. Push it on, it stays put. Pull it off by hand. No screws, no glue, no frame.

Light down, glow around

The open bottom throws clear, warm light onto the table below. The rest glows through the ribs in soft bands.

Questions

Will my own bulbs fit?
Shell is made for the A60, the standard pear-shaped bulb. Use an A60 LED with an E27 base, up to 5 W. Bulb dimensions vary slightly between brands, so if in doubt, write to us and we’ll tell you which ones we’ve tested.
How do I hang it?
Shell has no plug. It connects to a ceiling outlet, like most pendants. If you’re not sure how your ceiling is wired, ask an electrician. Connection must comply with local electrical regulations.
Why only 5 W?
Shell grips the bulb directly, so it’s rated for cool-running LED bulbs only. 5 W of LED gives about as much light as a 60 W incandescent.
What if I don’t like it?
Return it within 30 days of delivery and we’ll refund you. We pay for the return shipping and charge no fees. Write to [email protected] first.
Is recycled plastic as good as new?
The shade is PETG recycled from post-consumer bottles and packaging, made into filament in Sweden. Every Shell is printed and checked in our workshop, and it carries the same three-year guarantee as everything we make.
What does the guarantee cover?
Three years of free repairs covering all defects, including the bulb, not covering mishandling or accidents. This does not affect your two-year right to complain about defects under Danish law.
