A vertically integrated monster

Could we make a really good lamp that didn’t feel derivative? And could we design it in a way that allowed us to fully manufacture and assemble all of its components ourselves, achieving complete vertical integration? Those are the questions behind Frankenstein Research.

Our answer is Dash, a lamp that is made in our laboratory from nothing but standard components. We 3d-print everything on our own machines, and assemble, package, and ship ourselves, achieving unusual control of the whole process.

10% of our profits donated

Making another designer lamp can feel – and may be – completely irrelevant in a world full of much bigger issues. In light of this, we have decided to voluntarily donate parts of our profits to altruism.

We donate 10% of our net profits to causes we deem to be of special importance. All projects are selected from ones suggested by Effective Altruism. Please subscribe to our newsletter to hear about specific donations.

Manufactured in Copenhagen

We’ve moved out of the bedroom, but everything is still designed, manufactured and hand-assembled in central Copenhagen, Denmark.

This type of local production is rare, but makes excellent sense in our case: It allows for minimal waste, minimal warehousing, and a production so flexible, that we can implement design changes from day to day. It also means that we know and can control how each item is produced.
